Lakers Nation voice says cut Knecht, keep Bronny over Hardy
The Lakers must shed one roster spot before camp, with Dalton Knecht, Jaden Hardy and Bronny James the names in play. Lakers Nation's Trevor Lane argues Knecht should go, saying James outplayed him last season and comes cheaper, and would keep Hardy too, citing his $6 million expiring deal and team option upside.
Los Angeles also has until late October to decide on Knecht's 2027-28 team option, while any call on James can wait until next summer.
California Post's Khobi Price, in a report picked up by Heavy, instead named Hardy, Knecht and Jarred Vanderbilt as the players most likely to be traded or waived to get under the 15-man limit, with James not among them.
Price notes Vanderbilt's contract has made him hard to move, Knecht's value dipped after a lost season, and Hardy looks like the cleanest cut if no trade comes together.
