Cleveland cuts Cam Whitmore eight days after acquiring him

Cam Whitmore has been waived by the Cavaliers, per the NBA.com transaction log, noted by Michael Scotto of HoopsHype. Cleveland picked him up just over a week ago in the five-team Peyton Watson trade, and Jake Fischer of Bleacher Report and The Stein Line had reported the release was coming.

Whitmore is in the final year of his rookie scale deal, and the Cavs are expected to stretch his $5,458,310 salary over three seasons, cutting the 2026/27 hit to $1,819,437.
