Peyton Watson traded from Denver to Cleveland
Peyton Watson is on his way to the Cavaliers in a deal with the Nuggets, per CBS Sports, which handed out grades on the swap and framed it as Cleveland adding a wing coming off a step forward while questioning what Denver is building around Nikola Jokic.
The move was structured as a sign-and-trade, with Denver taking back first- and second-round picks amid luxury tax and second-apron concerns.
On the Game Over podcast, agent Rich Paul said he told Watson not to rush back from a hamstring injury during the playoff run, arguing players with a contract on the line need protecting from themselves.
The soft tissue issue cost Watson about six weeks from February and he was shut down again in early April, and reports had suggested some in Denver were unhappy he did not play through it the way Aaron Gordon did.
