Knicks face roster decision on Tyler Nickel

Isaac Trotter of CBS Sports reports that Tyler Nickel, the No. 47 pick, is expected to explore going back to college rather than turning pro with New York in 2026-27, after a legal ruling opened up a fifth year of eligibility for the 2022 class.

Nickel is one of five unsigned second-rounders, alongside Richie Saunders, Braden Smith, Dillon Mitchell and Lajae Jones, with Mitchell also weighing a college return.

His NIL value is estimated at $1 million to $1.4 million, potentially more than a two-way deal, after he averaged 12.2 points on 41.3% three-point shooting in Las Vegas. The Knicks keep his rights for a year from draft day either way.
