Knicks expected to add Nickel and McCullar before camp

SNY's Ian Begley expects rookie Tyler Nickel and third-year wing Kevin McCullar Jr. to land roster spots before training camp, pushing New York to 20 players under contract. Neither move has been announced.

Nickel was the 47th pick in this year's draft, while McCullar was a 2024 second-rounder who split last season between the Knicks and their G League affiliate.

Begley noted the second apron limits New York to carrying just one more veteran minimum deal, meaning keeping both a veteran wing and center would likely require a separate trade.
