Heat insider Ira Winderman writes that Miami would put Bobby Portis and Nikola Jovic's salaries into a trade package if a significant backcourt upgrade becomes available. Nothing is close, per Winderman, with the team taking a wait-and-see approach after already adding Klay Thompson and Tim Hardaway Jr. this offseason.
Jake Fischer, on his Bleacher Report livestream, said rival front offices view Nikola Jovic and Bobby Portis as negative-value contracts, which limits Miami's ability to use them as salary ballast in a trade.
A proposed three-team trade would send Bobby Portis to the Lakers to shore up their frontcourt behind Walker Kessler and Kevon Looney. Miami would get Jalen Smith, Tre Jones and Jarred Vanderbilt, while Chicago would take on Nikola Jovic and Dalton Knecht.
