Sims, Smith, Kuzma and Hunter listed as Lakers fallbacks
After missing out on Jonathan Kuminga, who signed a two-year deal in Minnesota, the Lakers are left searching for two-way wing and frontcourt depth behind Walker Kessler and Kevon Looney.
Bucks center Jericho Sims, whose salary of $2.8 million expires, and Bulls forward Jalen Smith are floated as trade targets, while Kings forward De'Andre Hunter and Bucks forward Kyle Kuzma, a former Laker, are named as wing possibilities, though the New York Post notes no known current interest from Los Angeles in either.
Free agency options are thinner, including Dwight Powell, who spent six and a half seasons alongside Luka Doncic in Dallas, along with Drew Eubanks, Bismack Biyombo and Mason Plumlee.
The Lakers sit $8.1 million under the first apron with 16 guaranteed contracts and only a 2032 first-round pick available to include in a trade.
