Klay Thompson takes Mavs buyout, Heat next
Klay Thompson has agreed to a buyout with Dallas and is expected to sign with Miami, per a report cited by CBS Sports, giving the Heat a shooter alongside Giannis Antetokounmpo and Bam Adebayo.
Thompson gave back close to $9.8 million of the $17.5 million he was owed this season, was waived Friday and is expected to clear waivers Sunday before signing a two-year, $13 million deal with Miami.
The move leaves Dallas roughly $12 million under the luxury tax and about $19 million below its first-apron hard cap. Thompson's net loss is around $3.5 million, the kind of figure that suggests the player pushed for the exit.
