Powell expected back in Dallas on a non-guaranteed camp deal
Dwight Powell has agreed to a new one-year, $3.88 million contract with Dallas, according to RealGM, with $1 million guaranteed and another $500,000 kicking in if he makes the opening night roster.
That marks a firmer outcome than the non-guaranteed Exhibit 9 camp deal Marc Stein and Jake Fischer of The Stein Line had initially expected.
The 35-year-old center had been angling for a return to the Mavericks since late summer and joined a Kyrie Irving-organized minicamp in Los Angeles, where he was seen interacting with head coach Jason Kidd, continuing a Dallas tenure that dates back to 2014.
He remains the franchise's longest-tenured player after averaging 3.3 points and 4.1 rebounds last season.
Dallas already held 15 standard contracts after buying out Klay Thompson, so completing the deal would require the team to waive or trade someone to clear a roster spot.
