Olynyk could return to Spurs as 15th man, but maybe not soon
Kelly Olynyk has worked out with former Spurs teammates this offseason, and ClutchPoints' Brett Siegel says he wouldn't be surprised if the free-agent big man re-signs in San Antonio as a 15th roster man.
San Antonio sits just $2.15M below the luxury tax, so adding a minimum-salary player now would push them into taxpayer status, meaning the front office might wait until November 11 or later in the season to fill that spot.
The item also touches on separate Southwest notes: Dirk Nowitzki says he's had early talks with new Mavericks president Masai Ujiri about a possible return, Dallas coach Jason Kidd's successor Dusty May praised Kyrie Irving's ACL recovery work, and the Mavericks and Rockets will open camp early ahead of preseason games in Macao.
