Lonzo Ball denies retiring, says he still wants an NBA offer
Lonzo Ball has denied reports that he retired, writing on X that the idea is "news to me" and that he still hopes for an NBA offer.
The retirement talk stemmed from Athlon Sports and other outlets misreading reflective comments Ball made on the BallinTheFamPod about the toll of a left knee injury that required a donor meniscus and cartilage implant. No retirement notice was ever filed with the league.
Ball is a free agent after Cleveland traded him to Utah in February as part of a three-team deal, with the Jazz expected to waive him.
His career has included stops with the Lakers, Pelicans, Bulls, Cavaliers and Jazz, and he averaged 4.6 points, 4.0 rebounds and 3.9 assists last season with Cleveland, well below his career marks of 10.6 points, 5.3 rebounds and 5.6 assists over 322 games.
