Ball says he's still waiting on an NBA call, not retired
Lonzo Ball remains unsigned as a free agent with the 2026-27 season about a month away, and he has pushed back on retirement chatter that spread after a podcast clip circulated, sarcastically replying on social media that he's still waiting for a team to call.
Chicago traded the 28-year-old point guard to Cleveland last summer for Isaac Okoro, and he posted career-low numbers before Cleveland dealt him to Utah, which waived him in February after acquiring him in a salary-dump trade.
He made $10 million last season and would likely have to accept far less to land a new deal. His reply was a joke, but the underlying point stands: he wants to keep playing.
