Knicks waive Konchar and Dante after one day of camp

New York waived guard John Konchar and center N'Faly Dante following the first day of training camp, without explaining either move.

Konchar had signed with the Knicks over reported interest from the Heat, Magic and Raptors, per NBA insider Marc Stein, after being traded from Utah to Minnesota and then waived in August.

Dante joined on an Exhibit 10 deal while still recovering from a torn ACL suffered last season with Atlanta. Both exits leave the Knicks' non-guaranteed camp group, including Bruce Brown, Ochai Agbaji, James Wiseman and Drew Eubanks, competing for what roster spots remain.

Knicks' apron math sets up a scramble for one roster spot

New York signed Bruce Brown, John Konchar, Ochai Agbaji, Drew Eubanks and James Wiseman to non-guaranteed Exhibit 9 deals. With 13 guaranteed contracts and only $3.27M below the second apron per Yossi Gozlan of CapSheets, keeping two of the five would push the Knicks over that line.
