Knicks quietly made Towns their top extension priority, not Hart
Marc Stein and Jake Fischer report the Knicks had engaged seriously only with Karl-Anthony Towns' camp before pausing all extension talks Friday, with Josh Hart, Miles McBride and Tyler Kolek left further behind.
New York reportedly offered Towns around $200M on a four-year deal, short of the roughly $276M he could ultimately command.
Hart's $22.4M team option for 2027-28 gives the Knicks more flexibility on his timeline than they have with Towns' $61M player option. Stein and Fischer also note rival teams increasingly see McBride, entering the final year of his deal, as a trade candidate.
