Knicks eye center for last roster spot as Bradley joins camp battle
The Knicks are prioritizing a center for their final roster spot. New York Post reporter Stefan Bondy says James Wiseman is the frontrunner, though his Achilles recovery and preseason play could decide it; he's played just five games since tearing it in October 2024.
Wiseman faces Tony Bradley, Drew Eubanks, Bruce Brown and Ochai Agbaji, all on Exhibit 9 deals. New York has already waived John Konchar and signed Bradley, leaving four centers for possibly one opening.
Coach Mike Brown praised Wiseman and Bradley without tipping his hand, and discussed Andre Drummond replacing Mitchell Robinson, who left for Boston.
Fred Katz of The Athletic reports the Knicks may want to extend Karl-Anthony Towns before October 19. Having Towns exercise his $61M option as part of an extension could lower his 2028/29 cap hit ahead of a potential Jalen Brunson max extension.
