Kings' G League affiliate lands Newton in three-team rights swap

The Stockton Kings acquired the returning G League rights to guard Tristen Newton and forward Teddy Allen in a three-team deal with Delaware and Iowa, according to Jason Anderson of the Sacramento Bee.

Delaware gets Jameer Nelson Jr.'s rights, while Iowa receives Jaylin Williams' rights along with a 2027 second-round G League pick from Stockton and a 2027 first-rounder from Delaware.

Newton, cut by the Rockets last week off a two-way deal, played sparingly for Indiana, Minnesota and Houston since being drafted in 2024. The move suggests Sacramento could be lining him up for an NBA contract.
