Hornets land Finney-Smith and three second-rounders from Rockets
Atlanta is trading Buddy Hield, Ryan Nembhard and cash to Charlotte for Dorian Finney-Smith, according to Shams Charania. The deal creates a $2.1M trade exception for Atlanta and a $4.5M one for Charlotte, which is expected to waive Nembhard once it's finalized.
Hield is owed roughly $9.6M this season with a player option for 2027-28. It's Finney-Smith's second move this offseason after Houston sent him to Charlotte on July 6, and Atlanta needed wing depth after rookie center Henri Veesaar's season-ending ACL injury.
Before this trade, Svyatoslav Rovenchuk at LakeShowLife had suggested Los Angeles pursue Finney-Smith, who was coming off ankle surgery and a career-worst 3.3 points in 37 games, citing his low cost and ties to Luka Doncic.
Charlotte insider Rod Boone had said there was a real chance Finney-Smith would be moved again before the season started.
