Hawks land Finney-Smith from Charlotte for Hield and Nembhard
Atlanta and Charlotte have agreed to a trade sending Dorian Finney-Smith to the Hawks, Shams Charania of ESPN reports. Buddy Hield, guard Ryan Nembhard and cash go back to the Hornets.
Jake Fischer had reported the two sides were talking about a Finney-Smith for Hield swap earlier in the week, then said discussions had picked back up with Nembhard added to the package.
Charlotte had only acquired Finney-Smith from Houston this offseason along with three future second-round picks, according to RealGM.
His $14.1 million salary this season carries no guaranteed money for the next two years. Hield is owed $9.7 million for 2026-27 with nothing guaranteed the following season, and he will play his age-33 campaign in Atlanta.
