Holiday-to-Heat trade seen as unlikely for now, Blazers won't buy out
Miami Herald reporter Barry Jackson says Jrue Holiday remains a name in Heat trade chatter but calls a deal difficult to construct right now. Portland has no plans to buy out the roughly $72 million left on his contract, since the Blazers still have playoff aspirations.
Jackson notes fitting Holiday's salary under Miami's hard cap would require finding several million more in matching money beyond Nikola Jovic and Davion Mitchell. He suggests the more realistic windows are February's trade deadline or next summer, when the Heat could use their preserved nontaxpayer midlevel exception.
