Hart warns Knicks talks could turn into 'different conversation' by February
Josh Hart and Karl-Anthony Towns both say extension talks with the Knicks have stalled, with little chance of a deal before the season starts.
Hart, eligible for up to four years and $132M, told reporters at media day that unresolved contract questions wear on players over a long season, and warned that if nothing is settled by February, the trade deadline month, the conversation could turn very different.
Towns is eligible for up to four years and $272M, but New York has reportedly offered him well below that, asking him to take a pay cut as the team navigates the second apron. Neither player has requested a trade, and both say they want to stay, though they call the uncertainty a distraction.
Miles McBride, entering a contract year, is also seeking an extension and told the New York Daily News's Kristian Winfield he is "a little disappointed" nothing is done yet.
