Curry's extension call expected within 10 days, before media day
UpdateCurry takes team-friendly two-year, $116M extension with Warriors
Stephen Curry is weighing a one-year or two-year max extension (the two-year deal worth $136.7 million), a pay cut, or waiting for free agency, Warriors reporter Anthony Slater said on ESPN's NBA Today and NBA Live.
Slater said Golden State's front office handed Curry a menu of options in August rather than negotiate terms. He expects Curry to decide within the next week and a half, before the team's September 28 media day, though Curry has rarely pushed front-office decisions and will eventually need to state his preference.
Waiting would preserve roughly $130 million in cap space for Golden State in summer 2027, but could let Curry land a bigger three-year deal in free agency.
Curry told CNBC he intends to be a "lifer" with the Warriors and downplayed free agency speculation, saying contract details will "take care of themselves" as long as his commitment to the team stays intact.
