Moussa Cisse

Dallas has fully guaranteed Moussa Cisse's $2,185,116 salary for 2026/27 after the October 1 deadline passed, Marc Stein reports, confirming earlier reporting from Mike Curtis of the Dallas Morning News. The deal had already become partially guaranteed for $1,092,558 once Cisse stayed on the roster through September 1.

The Knicks are monitoring Moussa Cisse's contract situation in Dallas, according to Kristian Winfield of the New York Daily News. New York signed Cisse to an offer sheet in July before Dallas matched it, building in an Oct. 1 guarantee date on his salary.

Dwight Powell's re-signing left Dallas at the roster limit of 15 standard contracts, and NBA insider Marc Stein reported the Mavericks have not ruled out clearing a spot to keep him.

ESPN's Brian Windhorst reports that Dallas's buyout of Klay Thompson was partly about roster math tied to keeping center Moussa Cisse as backup insurance behind Dereck Lively II.

Moussa Cisse signed a two-year, nearly $5 million contract with Dallas, matching an offer sheet from the New York Knicks. The deal locks in the big man after a rookie season in which he played nearly 40 games, averaging about 5 points and 6 rebounds in 14 minutes.
