Los Angeles Lakers

Bleacher Report's Eric Pincus lists Indiana forward Jarace Walker among the Lakers' top five trade targets, with any deal likely sending out multiple players such as Dalton Knecht, Jaden Hardy or Jake LaRavia, possibly with a third team helping the Pacers duck the luxury tax.

A proposed deal would send New Orleans forward Herbert Jones and Croatian big man Karlo Matkovic to Los Angeles for Dalton Knecht and Jaden Hardy. The Lakers would use a trade exception and a non-taxpayer midlevel slot to absorb the incoming salaries, meaning New Orleans avoids adding payroll.

BC Roma is discussing a deal with free agent big man Maxi Kleber, 34, according to Superbasket. Kleber played 43 games for the Lakers last season after nine years in the NBA, most of them with Dallas. A move to Rome would see him replace center Jesse Edwards, who recently parted ways with the club.

Eric Amsler is leaving Miami's front office to become an assistant general manager with the Lakers, ESPN's Shams Charania reported. He spent more than 22 years with the Heat, rising from intern to vice president of player personnel and Sioux Falls Skyforce general manager.

A survey of unsigned free agents ranks Cam Thomas, John Konchar, Ochai Agbaji, Kelly Olynyk, Bruce Brown and Cam Whitmore among the best names left after Jalen Duren's restricted free agency effectively took him off the market.

Gabe Vincent remains a free agent roughly three weeks before rosters lock. Atlanta let him go after acquiring him from the Lakers at the deadline, and Bleacher Report's Eric Pincus flagged Miami's thin point guard depth as a fit.

Ochai Agbaji remains unsigned after stints with Utah, Toronto and Brooklyn, and Bleacher Report's Eric Pincus lists him among the top free agents still without a team. Pincus notes Agbaji improved to 34.9% from three after landing in Brooklyn and could need to start on an Exhibit 10 deal.

LakeShowLife's Tyler Watts argues the Lakers shouldn't chase Anthony Davis even as Washington holds off on an extension. Davis has a guaranteed $58.5M left plus a $62.8M player option, a price Watts says the Lakers won't touch.
