Wolves must dump salary to fit Kuminga, with Green and DiVincenzo in contention
Minnesota agreed with Jonathan Kuminga on a two-year, $13 million deal carrying a player option, Shams Charania reported, to be signed using the $6.1 million taxpayer midlevel exception.
Cap analyst Yossi Gozzlan and ESPN's Bobby Marks both note the Wolves sit under the second-apron hard cap by too little to absorb it, roughly $3.9 million below the line per ClutchPoints' Brett Siegel, leaving them about $2.2 million over once Kuminga is added.
Siegel names Josh Green, owed some $41 million over three years after arriving in the LaMelo Ball trade, and Donte DiVincenzo, on an expiring deal and recovering from a torn Achilles, as the obvious candidates to move.
The alternative is a waive-and-stretch, with Saturday the deadline, which would leave dead money on the books.
