Wizards' interest in Davis-for-Duren swap hinges on Pistons shopping him
The Wizards have interest in trading Anthony Davis for Jalen Duren, per Sam Amick and Hunter Patterson of The Athletic. Detroit remains unwilling to discuss moving Duren, a stance it has repeated toward other proposals involving him.
Salary matching would be messy even if Detroit budged: Duren's new deal would trigger base-year compensation rules leaving the Pistons short of Davis' roughly $58.5 million salary.
Duren is weighing a five-year, $200 million offer he must accept by Thursday, with a qualifying offer his other option, and there's no sign of a deal nearing.
Pistons president Trajan Langdon has kept talking publicly as if Duren's return is expected. Sacramento and Milwaukee are also described as serious suitors, though the Kings haven't talked to Detroit since late June.
