Wiseman becomes favorite for Knicks' last roster spot
James Wiseman has emerged as the frontrunner for New York's 14th and likely final roster spot, New York Post reporter Stefan Bondy reports. Bondy says witnesses have praised Wiseman's camp performance, though he cautioned preseason games still have to play out.
The Knicks are prioritizing a center for that spot, putting Wiseman ahead of fellow camp invitees Drew Eubanks and Tony Bradley over guard Bruce Brown Jr. John Konchar was waived from his Exhibit 9 deal this week to attend to a personal matter, and Bradley was added in his place.
Knicks coach Mike Brown praised Wiseman's length, athleticism and skill, telling reporter Ian Begley he believes there's a place for him in the league. Wiseman, the No. 2 pick in the 2020 draft, has played just five games over the past two seasons after falling out of the rotation in Golden State and Detroit.
