Vanderbilt stuck with Lakers after summer trade attempts fizzle

Jarred Vanderbilt remains on the Lakers roster after failed efforts to move him this offseason, according to CBS Sports' Sam Quinn and LakeShowLife's Svyatoslav Rovenchuk.

Los Angeles reportedly tried to include him in a sign-and-trade tied to Walker Kessler and in talks around Jonathan Kuminga, but the Hawks and others passed. California Post's Khobi Price reports Vanderbilt is now likely to open the season in the Lakers' rotation as the probable fifth starter.

Jovan Buha and Brett Siegel both report the Lakers spent the summer trying to trade Vanderbilt without finding a taker, and Jake Fischer and Marc Stein have also linked him to trade rumors in recent months.

Rather than the final guaranteed year of his deal, Vanderbilt is said to hold a player option worth roughly $12 million that he is expected to exercise, with the Lakers continuing to look for a match.
