Trade idea sends Kyrie Irving to Spurs for De'Aaron Fox package
A trade idea would send Kyrie Irving, PJ Washington, Daniel Gafford and Caleb Martin to San Antonio, with Dallas getting De'Aaron Fox, Keldon Johnson, Luke Kornet, Carter Bryant and four future draft picks.
The pitch frames Irving as the closer the Spurs lacked in their Finals loss to New York, while Dallas would offload his looming free-agency talks and reset around Cooper Flagg's young core.
ESPN's Tim MacMahon reports people around the league are questioning how long Irving's fit in Dallas lasts as the Mavericks build around the 19-year-old Flagg.
He said Irving and the team still like their relationship, but the possibility of a trade before the deadline is being asked about league-wide. No talks or timeline have surfaced, and Irving is coming back from a torn ACL that cost him all of last season.
