Trade idea sends Dalton Knecht to Toronto for Jamison Battle

A trade idea floated by Heavy would send Dalton Knecht from the Lakers to Toronto for Jamison Battle's expiring $2.3M salary and a 2029 second-round pick.

The Lakers would get a shooter in Battle, who hit 40.7% from three over two seasons, while the Raptors take a flyer on Knecht after his minutes dried up in year two. Knecht has also been floated as a waiver candidate as the Lakers trim their roster before camp.

BasketNews writer Edvinas Kuzas floated a separate swap sending Kris Dunn from the Clippers to the Lakers for Knecht and a future second-round pick, though no talks between the teams are reported.

Dunn would provide perimeter defense and backup playmaking behind Luka Doncic. He is entering the final year of his contract at $5.6 million after averaging 7.3 points, 3.3 rebounds and 3.6 assists in all 82 games last season.
