Smart says Lakers' lowball offer pushed him to Houston
Marcus Smart signed a two-year, $12.4 million deal with the Rockets after leaving the Lakers in free agency. Lakers insider Jovan Buha said Los Angeles offered Smart fewer years and less money, which he took as a slight.
Smart himself called the offer disrespectful, telling reporters his play deserved more security than Los Angeles was willing to give. The Lakers replaced him with Collin Sexton on a similar contract.
