Shead locks in three-year, $24M extension with Toronto
Jamal Shead has agreed to a three-year, $24 million extension with Toronto that runs through the 2029-30 season, according to agent KJ Smith, who spoke to ESPN's Shams Charania.
The deal keeps the young guard with the Raptors beyond his rookie contract. Shead, a second-round pick out of Houston in 2024, is entering his third NBA season after playing all 82 games last year, averaging 6.6 points and 5.4 assists while shooting just 32.1% from three.
He drew some Sixth Man of the Year votes last season for his defense. With Kawhi Leonard now on the roster, Shead is expected to retain a prominent backcourt role.
