Rockets cut guard JD Davison

Houston announced it is waiving guard JD Davison, who had turned his two-way deal into a standard contract worth $2.5 million over two years this offseason. Only $82,000 of that was guaranteed, per Spotrac, so the financial hit is minimal.

Davison appeared in 28 games last season, averaging 2.5 points and 1.3 assists in about seven minutes a night. The Rockets' backcourt additions of Marcus Smart and Bogdan Bogdanovic left him squeezed out.
