Towns to Portland for Holiday, Camara and a 2029 first in trade idea

Karl-Anthony Towns said talks with New York on a new deal are not close, after reports put the sides apart on money with the Knicks reportedly offering four years and $200 million against his $272 million max.

Karl-Anthony Towns and the Knicks remain stuck on a new deal, with New York reportedly offering $200 million, $77 million below his max. Towns pushed back publicly on the pace of talks, and Shams Charania has raised the possibility of a trade.

ESPN's Shams Charania reports Karl-Anthony Towns and Josh Hart could become trade candidates if they don't sign extensions before the February deadline. Towns is eligible for four years and over $276 million, Hart for four years and $131.2 million, but Charania says neither side is close.
