Lakers pitched a Herb Jones and Jordan Hawkins package from New Orleans

Svyatoslav Rovenchuk at LakeShowLife, in a trade idea picked up by Heavy, has Los Angeles acquiring Herb Jones and Jordan Hawkins in exchange for Jarred Vanderbilt, Dalton Knecht, Adou Thiero and a 2031 Wizards second-round pick.

Jones, an All-Defensive First Team pick in 2023-24, is starting a three-year, $68 million extension.

The argument is that the Pelicans, squeezed after adding Benedict Mathurin, could sell high on one of their few valued assets.

Trade idea would send Herbert Jones, Matkovic to Lakers

A proposed deal would send New Orleans forward Herbert Jones and Croatian big man Karlo Matkovic to Los Angeles for Dalton Knecht and Jaden Hardy. The Lakers would use a trade exception and a non-taxpayer midlevel slot to absorb the incoming salaries, meaning New Orleans avoids adding payroll.
