Porzingis says he's improving but stays out indefinitely
Golden State has ruled Kristaps Porzingis out indefinitely for an unspecified health issue that kept him out of camp and all six preseason games, with no return date set.
He met with general manager Mike Dunleavy Jr. and director of sports medicine Rick Celebrini before the announcement, and ClutchPoints' Brett Siegel reports the team has not detailed the condition.
Porzingis has a history of POTS-related illness that cost him significant time in Boston, though the Warriors have not linked his current issue to that one.
He posted on social media that he is working with doctors, calling the situation frustrating but saying he is improving and needs patience. He also said he does not have HIV or AIDS, addressing online speculation directly.
Golden State is already without Jimmy Butler and Moses Moody as both recover from knee injuries. With Porzingis out, Draymond Green and Al Horford are set to anchor the center rotation to start the season.
Coach Steve Kerr also said he's leaning toward a smaller starting lineup of Stephen Curry, Brandin Podziemski, Gui Santos, Will Richard and Green.
