Porzingis' expiring money makes him a deadline trade chip

ClutchPoints insider Brett Siegel says a rival Western Conference executive views Kristaps Porzingis as Golden State's top trade candidate this season. Porzingis carries a $20 million salary with only $3 million guaranteed beyond this year, effectively an expiring deal useful for matching money.

Siegel noted the Warriors already flipped Jonathan Kuminga into Porzingis last year and could run a similar play before February. Porzingis is currently out indefinitely with an unspecified health issue and has missed 90 games over the past two seasons.
