Pistons shut door on any Duren sign-and-trade, per MacMahon

ESPN's Tim MacMahon reports the Pistons have told teams not to bother exploring a sign-and-trade for restricted free agent Jalen Duren, intent on keeping him outright.

Talks reportedly opened around four years and $130 million from Detroit, while Duren's camp had sought max-range money up to $239-287 million; insider Jake Fischer reports the sides are trending toward at least four years and $160 million, a gap NBC Sports' Kurt Helin and ESPN's Vincent Goodwill both called unusually contentious.

With no team holding cap space to sign him to an offer sheet, Duren's only paths are bridging the gap with Detroit or accepting a $9.6 million qualifying offer.

He remains the last unresolved restricted free agent of the offseason, with Peyton Watson and Bennedict Mathurin already settled elsewhere, and real pressure on a deal isn't expected until closer to training camp.
