Payton agrees to non-guaranteed deal with Sacramento
Elfrid Payton has agreed to sign with the Kings, Michael Scotto of HoopsHype reports, with the veteran guard set to compete for a regular-season roster spot.
The 2014 lottery pick has played in just 24 games over the past four seasons, splitting last year between New Orleans and Charlotte.
Sacramento GM Scott Perry was in Orlando's front office when the Magic drafted Payton, and the Kings had been linked to him as a mentor option for rookie Darius Acuff Jr. The deal is expected to be a non-guaranteed minimum contract, leaving Payton to battle Ben Simmons and others for a spot on the 15-man roster.
