Mike Brown backs Wiseman as Knicks camp center battle looms

James Wiseman is one of five veterans on Exhibit 9 training camp deals fighting for a likely open roster spot in New York, competing with Drew Eubanks for center minutes behind Karl-Anthony Towns and Andre Drummond.

NBA insider Marc Stein reports coach Mike Brown, who coached Wiseman as a Warriors assistant during his rookie seasons, remains a fan of his talent. Bruce Brown, John Konchar and Ochai Agbaji round out the perimeter group also chasing a spot.

New York currently has 13 guaranteed contracts and, per Stein, is expected to fill only one of its two open spots unless it sheds salary elsewhere. Wiseman is coming off a season limited to five games by an Achilles injury, which adds uncertainty to his bid for minutes behind Towns and Drummond.
