McBride says extension talks with Knicks have him disappointed
Miles McBride told New York Daily News reporter Kristian Winfield he's "a little disappointed" with how extension talks with New York have gone. He enters the final year of his $13 million deal, set to earn just under $4M in 2026/27, and remains extension-eligible through June 2027.
McBride wants to stay with the only NBA team he's played for and feels he's proven himself despite injuries limiting him to 41 games last season. He wants a raise reflecting his growth and plans to keep focusing on his play regardless of how talks go.
Knick of Time Show's Lee Escobedo suggested CBA trade-restriction rules tied to any extension may explain New York's hesitation.
Multiple reporters are skeptical a deal gets done given the Knicks' cap situation, and McBride is widely viewed as a trade candidate, or an impending unrestricted free agent, if no extension materializes.
