Dallas signed Matt Cross to a training camp contract on Monday. Cross averaged 6.1 points and 6.8 rebounds for the G League's Texas Legends last season. The move pushes the Mavericks' roster to 21 players.
New Orleans waived Caleb Houstan, per NBA.com's transaction log, ending his Exhibit 9 camp stint after two preseason games. The four-year veteran has career averages of 3.9 points with Orlando and Atlanta. Since his deal lacked Exhibit 10 language, he's not a clear fit for the Pelicans' G League club.
Mavericks president Masai Ujiri intends to keep Kyrie Irving on the roster this season, ESPN's Brian Windhorst reports, despite other teams' interest ahead of the February trade deadline.
Dallas is willing to field offers for PJ Washington given its crowded frontcourt, according to Marc Stein.
