Leonard picked Toronto return over Detroit, Minnesota interest
Kawhi Leonard had multiple suitors before deciding to head back to Toronto, Shams Charania reports. Detroit and Minnesota were both prepared to trade for him and discuss an extension, with only one year left on his deal.
That leverage let Leonard dictate his own destination rather than wait for a trade to be forced. Charania called the choice a legacy play, noting it reunites him with the franchise he led to the 2019 title.
