Leonard eyes extension talks in Toronto once trade is final

Kawhi Leonard was fined $700,000 by the NBA over the Clippers' cap circumvention scandal but avoided suspension or a voided contract, The Athletic's John Hollinger reported.

His trade to Toronto, agreed months ago and delayed by that probe, finally closed this week, sending Brandon Ingram, Gradey Dick and multiple picks to the Clippers.

Leonard has one year and roughly $50.3 million left on his current deal.

ESPN's Bobby Marks expects a two-year extension worth nearly $124 million, paying him over $62 million a season on top of what remains, and NBA insider Jake Fischer reports Toronto and Leonard are already in advanced talks under those extend-and-trade, Over-38 limits.

Marc Stein predicted it would come together quickly now that Leonard is formally back with the Raptors. Leonard told the team's in-house show he wanted to return, saying the city 'took a liking to my family.'
