Lakers eye wing with next summer's mid-level, could re-sign Sexton
The Lakers plan to save their non-taxpayer mid-level exception for a starting-level wing next summer, reporter Jovan Buha said on his Buha's Block podcast. That money could instead go toward keeping Collin Sexton if he proves he can fill that role; Sexton holds a $9.8M player option for 2027-28.
Buha also reported that Marcus Smart left Los Angeles this offseason after the Lakers offered fewer years and less money than he wanted, which Smart called "disrespectful."
