Lakers' backup center options behind Kessler look thin

The Lakers are still hunting a trade for a backup big man behind Walker Kessler and Kevon Looney, according to LakeShowLife's Svyatoslav Rovenchuk. He names Drew Eubanks, James Wiseman and Jericho Sims as possible buyout or waiver targets, but calls none of them worth the roster churn.

Chicago's Jalen Smith has also come up, though Rovenchuk figures he costs too much in a trade. He argues only a consolidation deal would truly upgrade the spot, with free agency unlikely to offer a needle-mover. NBA insider Brett Siegel separately reported the Lakers are hopeful of finding another big.
