Kuminga's list is down to the Lakers and Timberwolves, per Jake Fischer
Jonathan Kuminga's choice is down to the Lakers and Timberwolves, Jake Fischer said on a Bleacher Report livestream.
Both teams can only offer the veteran minimum unless a sign-and-trade is arranged, and that is complicated: Atlanta sits $3.8 million from the tax and would be reluctant to take salary back, forcing a third team in, while Minnesota is roughly $8.2 million over the first apron and would need to finish under it.
The Wolves also have the $6 million taxpayer MLE, though using it triggers a second-apron hard cap with them only $4.5 million below that line. Kuminga is said to favor the Lakers, ideally via a sign-and-trade in which a third team absorbs the salary of Jarred Vanderbilt or Dalton Knecht.
