Kuminga lands in Minnesota on a two-year, $13M deal
Jonathan Kuminga has signed a two-year contract with Minnesota worth up to $12.4 million, with a player option after the 2026-27 season. Agent Aaron Turner told ESPN's Shams Charania the priority was fit over money. Sportando reported Kuminga turned down a three-year, $75 million offer from Golden State.
Minnesota's pitch centered on the vacant power forward job alongside Anthony Edwards and LaMelo Ball. Kuminga joins Edwards, Ball, Jaden McDaniels and Rudy Gobert in a reshaped rotation. Edwards welcomed him bluntly: "This is over, man. Wrap it up."
The deal sets up another free agency for Kuminga in 2027, when Sacramento and Chicago could have cap space. He averaged 12.2 points and 5.6 rebounds across 36 games last season and has started just 24 games over the past two years.
