Knecht's $6.4M option looks like the Lakers' toughest call
Lakers analyst Trevor Lane says Dalton Knecht is a likely cut candidate as Los Angeles decides by Halloween whether to pick up his $6.4 million team option, though Lakers Roundtable's Carlos Yakimowich puts the figure at $4.2 million.
Lane says rookie Cameron Carr has effectively replaced Knecht, calling Carr better across the board on both ends. He believes a fresh start elsewhere could help Knecht more than staying in Los Angeles, and picks Knecht over Jaden Hardy or Bronny James as the one to lose his spot.
Yakimowich reports the Lakers have 16 players for 15 roster spots and need to make a move, with the same three players floated as candidates. He says Los Angeles should try trading Knecht before waiving him.
