Keyonte George locks in five-year, $157.5M extension with Utah
Keyonte George's five-year rookie-scale extension with Utah is officially done, agreed with agent Jason Ranne of THE•TEAM and Jazz president Austin Ainge, according to ESPN's Shams Charania and Tim MacMahon.
Salt Lake Tribune reporter Shreyas Laddha put the value at $157.5 million, breaking down to a $155 million base with $500,000 in annual incentives and 4% annual raises instead of the maximum 8%, a structure the Jazz wanted given recent cap growth.
It runs from 2027/28 through 2031/32 with no player or team option. Incentives include five $100,000 bonuses tied to games played and playoff series wins, plus a smaller bonus tied to on-court team defense.
George boosted his scoring average from 16.8 to 23.6 points last season while also averaging 6.1 assists. Ainge told Chandler Holt of KSL Sports the deal was meant to free George from worrying about stats or contract status.
