Kerr offers no clarity on Porzingis' ongoing absence

Kristaps Porzingis is still away from the Warriors less than two weeks before the opener, after missing camp with an unspecified health issue. Coach Steve Kerr said Thursday he has no timetable for Porzingis' return and nothing new to report, though he has texted with the center and says he seems okay.

ClutchPoints' Brett Siegel reports Golden State is bracing for Porzingis to open the regular season on the sidelines. The team has declined to discuss specifics of his health since acquiring him from Atlanta at last year's trade deadline.

The absence hasn't been tied officially to the POTS diagnosis Porzingis received in 2025, but that remains the working assumption. Golden State signed him to a two-year, $40 million extension this offseason.

Porzingis' expiring money makes him a deadline trade chip

ClutchPoints insider Brett Siegel says a rival Western Conference executive views Kristaps Porzingis as Golden State's top trade candidate this season. Porzingis carries a $20 million salary with only $3 million guaranteed beyond this year, effectively an expiring deal useful for matching money.
